Case Study: Equine Barn Co.
Each case study offers unique conditions that make it especially interesting to discuss. In the case study we first identify the problem and the expected outcome. Then, after the radiant barrier foil is installed, we determine the ways it improved the problem and, in some cases, even some unexpected benefits that came from the installation.
Background: Equine Barn Company builds new horse barns and restores old horse barns. They decided to use BlueTex™ insulation products on a barn project where they wanted to keep heat out in summer and heat inside during winter.
Type of Structure: wood-framed metal building
Install Date: April 2013
Goal: Keep barn cooler in summer, warmer in winter. In winter they were using a wood stove to heat the barn.
Product Used: Double-Sided Radiant Barrier Foil
Install Details: The walls were covered in plywood and the foil was stapled directly to the plywood, leaving the inside of the barn as the required air space.
Finish: Customer loved it and decided to keep the foil exposed because of the brightness it added to the inside of the space.
Results: The storage barn is cooler in the hot Georgia summers and warmer in the wintertime.
