Case Study: Wedding Venue
Each case study offers unique conditions that make it especially interesting to discuss. In the case study we first identify the problem and the expected outcome. Then, after the radiant barrier foil is installed, we determine the ways it improved the problem and, in some cases, even some unexpected benefits that came from the installation.
Background: A wedding venue in Southern California was struggling to keep the interior of the building cool even with 2 brand new 5-ton a/c units. The customer needed way to stop the radiant heat from coming in because the building had no shade and it would heat up fast and was unable to cool down even with the new a/c units running constantly. Because the venue is used for weddings and photography, the customer wanted a solution that her customers would be happy with, in terms of how it looked.
Type of Structure: metal-framed metal building
Install Date: August 2016
Goal: Be able to cool the venue down without burning out the A/C but maintain a pretty finish for weddings/photography use.
Product used: Single-Sided Radiant Barrier Foil + White
Install Details: The building was framed in red-iron and had a corrugated metal roof above them. The walls were the same corrugated metal as the roofline and were bare. The foil + white product was installed so the white faced down, toward the guests, while the foil side faced up, toward the roof. The area above the foil included the required air space the foil needed to reflect heat back out of the roof.
Finish: The foil was strung horizontally and attached to the bottom of the purlins using a combination of double-sided tape and magnets to hold it onto the metal.
Results: The customer said, "We were SHOCKED !!!!! The difference was AMAZING !! For the very first time we put on the A/C, and it actually lowered the building to the temperature we wanted quickly! It was mind blowing and my husband was absolutely thrilled with happiness. Its made a HUGE difference with just the ceiling done. We are SUPER happy."
