This calculator is designed for standard open-frame metal buildings - tubular steel carports, residential workshops, ag and utility structures, and small commercial buildings where BlueTex™ Insulation is installed directly against the framing. These buildings come in two standard framing widths: 48" on center and 60" on center. Confirm yours before ordering - 50" wide BlueTex™ Insulation fits 48" framing, 62" wide BlueTex™ Insulation fits 60" framing.

What This Calculator Covers
Standard gable-roof tubular steel and carport-style buildings with framing at 48" or 60" on center. Select the areas you want to insulate - roof only, walls only, or the full building - and the calculator will break out the material list by component. Add doors. Standard Roll Up doors WILL be included in the material totals + Double Sided tape apply. Insulated doors will NOT be included in the materials totals. Don't add standard man type doors.
Why Framing Spacing Is the Most Important Input
BlueTex™ Insulation rolls are sized to fit specific framing intervals - 50" wide for 48" on-center framing, 62" wide for 60" on-center framing. Ordering the wrong width means the material will not span your framing correctly and cannot be returned without significant freight cost. If you are unsure of your framing spacing, measure the distance between framing centerlines before ordering, or call us at 800-595-8772 before placing an order.
How the Roll Yield Works
Each roll is rated by total square footage, but the effective coverage per roll is lower because of the 2" overlap required at every seam. The calculator uses the actual effective yield - not the nominal roll size - so your roll count will not come up short on the job. The waste allowance (adjustable from 5% to 10%) is added on top of that to account for cuts around doors, windows, and corners.
Roll-Up Doors vs. Insulated Panel Doors
Roll-up doors get insulated with a cut piece of BlueTex™ Insulation and applied across the door panel. It is held in place with double-sided tape - so the door area is included in your roll count and double-sided tape rolls are added to the list automatically.
