TermBar Cover & Repair System
Cover Your Old, Torn Failing Insulation. No Demo. No Mess. No Contractor Required.
Your building's interior vapor barrier didn't fail overnight - and fixing it doesn't have to mean tearing everything out and starting over. If you're dealing with old torn, ripped, sagging, stained, or falling insulation inside your metal building, the BlueTex™ TermBar Cover System was built for exactly this situation.
It installs DIRECTLY over the old, torn metal building insulation. It's similar to installing a new seat cover over an old seat (except BETTER than the original). It's 10 TIMES MORE durable and puncture resistant than the original vapor barrier facing that came with your building. It is MECHANICALLY ATTACHED (with screws) using our proprietary 'TermBars' - or Termination Bars. NO Adhesive, NO Glue, nothing to fail over the years. Also, NO chemicals, NO fumes, and NO special contractor license is required. If you can run a screw gun and get up on a lift, you can install this system - and see the difference the same day.
Typically 2 people can cover between 1,000-2,000 sq. ft per day.
Application
Roof Cover System
Roof Installation
Install Over the Old Ceiling - No Tearout
- BlueTex spans purlin to purlin across the full roof span.
- TermBars securely fasten each piece of BlueTex tight at every purlin - flat, finished look.
- 2" material overlap and vapor barrier seam tape seals overlaps completely so warm-moist interior air can't reach the cold metal behind and condense into water.
- Works over fiberglass blanket, torn facing, or bare steel.
- NO More dripping or condensation on cold metal purlins!
Application
Wall Cover System
Wall Installation
Same System - Vertical on the Walls
- Runs vertically between Purlins (also called Girts) - same TermBar attachment method.
- Wall purlins typically 7-8 ft apart - BlueTex™ Insualtion spans the full cavity.
- Seals the perimeter vapor barrier at base and top plate.
- Brighter interior - glossy white surface reflects shop lighting and easy to clean.
- Can be done at ground level - no lift required for walls.
Why the Old Insulation Failed
Most metal buildings were originally insulated with a fiberglass blanket and a thin facing material - a vapor barrier attached on the interior side. Over time, that facing breaks down. Warm, moist air from inside the building finds its way behind it, hits the cold metal, and condenses. Over time, you get the classic metal building problem: wet, sagging, stained insulation that's no longer doing its job.
Once the facing is compromised, warm interior air reaches the cold metal purlins and skin - and that's where condensation, mold, and rust follow.
The Solution: A New Interior Surface Over the Old One
The TermBar Cover & Repair System installs a new layer of BlueTex™ insulation across the inside of your building frame, over the top of the old material. Custom aluminum TermBars securely fasten to the purlins, pulling the insulation flat and creating tension across the span.
The result: a new tearproof, puncture resistant ultra durable bright white interior surface that seals warm air away from the cold metal behind it, and looks like a finished, professional installation - not a patch job.
What Makes Up the System
- BlueTex™ Pro 2mm 50" Wide Foil/White + Foam insulation- tear-proof, puncture-resistant, 99% pure aluminum foil layer, glossy white interior surface, built-in vapor barrier
- Aluminum TermBars (48" each) - L-shaped, fits snugly into the corners of metal purlins; holds the insulation under tension for a flat, finished look. Includes a center “screw notch” to keep the screws centered and from “walking” off center.
- Self-drilling screws (included with TermBars) - 1" long #10 5/16" hex head. You will use 3 per bar; the screws are custom made to have the last 1/16th smooth with no threads. This allows the screws to “spin through” the aluminum TermBar without locking up your screw gun break.
- 3" white vapor barrier seam tape - seals the overlapping seams so warm interior air can't get behind the new layer
What You Need to Install It
- Lift or scaffolding to reach the roof framing. Use the widest platform you can safely fit. A 48” or 60” wide platform is recommended so you can reach both sides of the purlin cavity at the same time. Bigger is better for this step.
- Screw gun or impact driver (5/16" magnetic hex nut driver)
- Utility knife and Putty Knife (for tucking tape between TermBar and BlueTex insulation)
That's it. No fumes, no demolition, no mess to haul out.

Specs and Planning
- Sold in 25-bar packs (with 85 screws) and 75-bar packs (with 240 screws) - both qualify for free shipping
- Planning rule: approximately 75 TermBars per 700 sq ft roll of BlueTex™ 2mm Pro (50" wide)
- Both 2mm Pro and 6mm Supreme work with the TermBar system, but we normally recommend the Pro 2mm for this application.

Test It Before You Commit
Not ready to order for the full building? The BlueTex™ Cover/Repair System Test Box lets you install the system on one real section of your building first. Show the owner, the manager, or your crew exactly what the finished product looks like before you commit to the full project.
The Test Box includes: 20 ft of 50" BlueTex™ 2mm Pro, 4 aluminum TermBars, 15 screws, 30 ft of 3" white vapor barrier seam tape, and 6 EasyClip™ test pieces. The $100 cost is fully refundable as a credit on any order of $500 or more.
