Case Study: New Building in North Texas
Each case study offers unique conditions that make it especially interesting to discuss. In the case study we first identify the problem and the expected outcome. Then, after the radiant barrier foil is installed, we determine the ways it improved the problem and, in some cases, even some unexpected benefits that came from the installation.
Background: This customer was building a new metal building on his property in North Texas and decided to use BlueTex™ insulation to cut down on the heat inside the space during the summer and stop the possibility of condensation in the winter.
Type of Structure: metal-framed metal building
Install Date: October 2020
Goal: Keep building cooler in summer and stop condensation in winter.
Product Used: 6mm BlueTex™ Supreme
Install Details: The building has a corrugated metal roof on top of metal hat channels. The roof was put on vertically with the hat channels creating the air space for the foil side of the BlueTex™. On the walls he used 1.5" wide foam strips to create the air space on the walls. The strips were put on top of the BlueTex™ foil layer with double-sided tape and then the metal wall panels were installed.
Finish: The foil was facing out with the air space between the foil and the metal skin. Inside the customer had the bright white finish for a more aesthetic appeal.
Results: The customer was very satisfied with how cool the building stayed and is able to use the building year round and stay comfortable.
