Each case study offers unique conditions that make it especially interesting to discuss. In the case study we first identify the problem and the expected outcome. Then, after the radiant barrier foil is installed, we determine the ways it improved the problem and, in some cases, even some unexpected benefits that came from the installation.
Background: This customer has an indoor warehouse facility used for basketball training and events. They are located in North Texas and decided to use BlueTex™ insulation to cut down on the heat inside the gym during the summer.
Type of Structure: metal-framed metal building
Install Date: July 2015
Goal: Keep gym cooler in summer for practices and events.
Product Used: Double-Sided Radiant Barrier Foil
Install Details: The building has a corrugated metal roof on top of metal purlins. The walls are finished with drywall. The area above the foil was empty and acted as the air space to reflect heat back out of the roof.
Finish: The foil was draped above the purlins and secured with plastic zip ties on each purlin support.
Results: The customer (and the players) were very satisfied with the effect the foil gave and the gym can comfortably be used year round now.
